Tommy
James played the 2nd Pinball Lad in the Who's Rock Opera in 1996, and was understudy to the lead role of Tommy. He was nominated for an Olivier Award in 1996 for his protrayal and role in the show.
It ran at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London from February 1996 through till February 1997.

The Who's rock opera about a deaf, dumb and blind boy who develops an extraordinary ability at pinball. After seeing his Father murder his Mother’s lover, Tommy becomes deaf, dumb and blind. He finds his voice and leaves his family behind. He achieves fame and his Uncle Ernie (who once molestered him) tries to capitalize on his stardom, but Tommy soon realizes fame is not all is cracked up to be and after an incident with a fan he returns to him family.
